Unilock Construction in Las Vegas, NV | Slatestone Contractors
We provide independent Unilock paver and wall construction across Las Vegas, from full driveway builds to patio re-sets and retaining wall repair, including Unilock in Paradise and surrounding areas. The one thing that makes our Unilock work here different is that we build for caliche and expansive clay first, then choose the paver. If you’re planning a paver driveway, patio, or retaining wall in Las Vegas, call (833) 734-5541 for a free estimate.
Unilock makes some of the best concrete pavers and wall systems you can put on the ground in Southern Nevada. But the product is only as good as the base beneath it. That’s where we come in. We’re an independent Unilock service provider, including Spring Valley Unilock service, not manufacturer-affiliated or authorized. We spec and install Unilock systems the way Las Vegas site conditions require, not the way a product catalog assumes.
Why Las Vegas Residents Choose Us for Unilock Service
Brent Calloway owns Slatestone Contractors, and he grew up in the Green Valley area back when it was still finding its footing. He built his reputation around durable, well-chosen materials that hold up through a Nevada summer and a decade of wear. That’s the standard we bring to every Unilock job.
We stock genuine Unilock pavers, caps, and wall units so repairs match existing color and dimension. When a paver fails, it’s rarely the paver’s fault. It’s the base, the joint sand, or the edge restraint. We diagnose the root cause before we replace anything. That’s the difference between a patch that fails next monsoon and a repair that stays flat and tight for years. For a full look at our Unilock sales & service capabilities, we cover everything from new installs to re-basing existing work.

Common Unilock Construction Problems We Solve in Las Vegas
- Polymeric joint sand washing out after monsoon microbursts. Las Vegas gets sudden, violent downpours that dump water faster than flat desert lots can shed it. If joints are underfilled or the base shifts even slightly, the sand cracks and washes. We re-tool joints, compact properly, and re-sand with a moisture-cured polymer that holds its bond under flash runoff.
- Efflorescence and UV color fade on paver surfaces. Intense summer sun and heat cycling pull mineral salts to the surface and bleach color from unsealed pavers. We clean, stabilize, and apply an appropriate sealer that slows UV damage and keeps the paver’s color depth intact.
- Paver settlement and edge heave from expansive clay. Older central Las Vegas neighborhoods from 89101 to 89108 sit on clay that swells with monsoon moisture and shrinks during the dry season. That movement lifts edges and sinks center pavers. The fix is excavation through the affected layer and a properly graded aggregate base with solid edge restraint.
- Segmental retaining wall movement from poor drainage. Walls built without geogrid or drainage gravel sized for expansive clay and dry-lake-bed soils start to lean and bulge. We rebuild with proper drainage, filter fabric, and grid placement matched to the wall height and soil load.
- Concentrated roof runoff ponding at driveway aprons. Tile roofs shed water in sheets, and if the grade doesn’t carry it away from the garage, the paver base softens and sag. We re-grade for positive slope, rebuild the apron base, and re-set the pavers so water exits the driveway instead of pooling.
Unilock Service in Las Vegas: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Pavers
Almost every hardscape job in Las Vegas has to rip through caliche hardpan and then build over expansive clay that swells with monsoon moisture. Caliche is the cemented desert hardpan that laughs at a standard shovel and needs machine ripping or saw cutting to move. Below it, clay expands and contracts with every wet-dry cycle. Put a paver on a thin base over that soil and it will move. Guaranteed. That’s why the base and drainage we put under Unilock pavers matter more here than the pavers themselves. In older central neighborhoods from 89101 to 89108, we routinely pull out installs where a thin gravel base was spread right on top of undisturbed clay. The pavers looked fine for two years, then settled into waves. We rip through the caliche, haul out what’s unsuitable, and build an engineered aggregate base with a graded slope. We do this in Las Vegas every week, and it’s the single most important difference between a ten-year patio and a two-year mistake.
On a paver driveway replacement in Green Valley, near our Unilock service in Winchester coverage area, the original install had settled into a low spot where runoff off the tile roof concentrated, and the base had been laid over clay without proper excavation. We ripped through the caliche, rebuilt an engineered aggregate base with a graded slope away from the garage, and re-set Brussels Block with edge restraint and a fresh seal. The driveway now sheds monsoon water instead of ponding at the apron.
Unilock Models & Products We Service in Las Vegas
We work with all the Unilock lines common in Las Vegas hardscape: Brussels Block, the tumbled dimensional paver that shows up on patios and pool decks all over Summerlin; Beacon Hill, a flagstone-textured paver that handles heavy foot traffic well; Olde Quarry, the quarry-cut wall block used for seat walls and garden retaining; and Brussels Dimensional, the structural wall system for higher retaining walls that need real engineering. We use genuine Unilock pavers, caps, and matching wall units for repairs so color and dimension stay consistent with what’s already laid, and we’re honest when a failing base means re-set and re-base rather than a sand-and-patch fix that fails again next monsoon. We keep common paver colors and wall caps available locally so Las Vegas projects don’t wait on cross-country freight.

AfterUnilock Service Pricing in Las Vegas
Paver and wall pricing in Las Vegas depends on excavation depth, soil conditions, access, and whether we’re repairing or starting fresh. Here’s what the market looks like:
| Service | Typical Las Vegas Range |
|---|---|
| Paver Driveway Installation | $7,000 – $18,000 |
| Paver Patio Installation | $3,500 – $11,000 |
| Driveway Replacement | $5,000 – $14,000 |
Caliche ripping, clay excavation, and drainage corrections are the big cost drivers here. A straightforward patio over already-disturbed soil runs lower; a driveway that needs caliche removal and re-grading runs at the high end. A free estimate includes a site walk, soil assessment, and a line-item quote. Call (833) 734-5541 to schedule yours.

FAQs – Unilock Construction in Las Vegas
Las Vegas UV is unrelenting. It bleaches color and pulls mineral salts through the paver surface, leaving a chalky white bloom called efflorescence. The fix is usually a deep clean, efflorescence treatment, and a quality sealer. Sealing every few years keeps the color from fading further. Call (833) 734-5541 if you want an assessment of your existing pavers, and we’ll tell you straight if sealing will solve it or if there’s a base problem underneath.
Yes, but you can’t shortcut the base. Caliche needs to be ripped or saw cut, and expansive clay needs to be over-excavated and replaced with engineered aggregate. Skipping that step is why pavers settle into waves within two years. We price the excavation honestly. Call (833) 734-5541 for a free site walk and we’ll tell you what’s under your existing hardscape before we quote a single paver.
They do, if the drainage and geogrid are sized for the soil. Monsoon microbursts concentrate water in ways a typical residential wall wasn’t built to handle. We install perforated drain tile behind the wall, filter fabric, and geogrid layers spaced to the wall height and slope load. Without that, gravity and wet clay work on the wall together. Call (833) 734-5541 to have an existing wall evaluated before the next storm season.
Full-depth joints, proper compaction, and a moisture-curing polymer that binds before the first rain. Underfilled joints are the most common cause of washout, because the sand never gets enough body to cure into a solid joint. We fill joints in two passes, compact, and water-cure. If your joints have already washed, call (833) 734-5541 and we’ll re-tool and re-sand them before the next monsoon.
Sometimes. If the pavers themselves are sound but settled, re-setting and re-basing costs less than a full replacement, typically $3,000 – $8,000 depending on square footage and access. If the base has failed and the pavers are cracked or sun-bleached beyond sealing, replacement may actually cost less long-term. We’ll give you a straight answer after looking at what’s underneath. Estimates are free. Call (833) 734-5541.
