Abodu Construction in Paradise, NV | Slatestone Contractors
We build, site, and finish Abodu backyard units across Paradise, NV, and we’re an independent contractor – not a manufacturer affiliate. The short version: if you want an Abodu One, Two, or Studio on your Paradise property, we handle Clark County permitting, caliche trenching, slab work, utility tie-ins, and every finish detail the factory package leaves to the local builder. Call (833) 734-5541 for a free site walk and estimate.
Paradise is unincorporated, which most people don’t think about until they’re three weeks into a permit. We think about it before you order the unit. That’s the difference.
Why Paradise Residents Choose Us for Abodu Service
We’re Slatestone Contractors, led by Brent Calloway. Brent grew up in Green Valley back when that neighborhood was still figuring out where the sidewalks went, and he’s been working construction in this valley ever since. He came up through the construction technology program at College of Southern Nevada, which means he learned framing and systems the hands-on way – not from a seminar. When we say we know how a prefab panel behaves in July heat, we mean we’ve watched it happen and fixed it.
We’re one of the only Paradise-area general contractors that carries Abodu alongside four other prefab ADU lines – Dvele, Boxabl, Mighty Buildings, and Plant Prefab. That’s intentional. We don’t have a sales incentive to push you into an Abodu if it’s not the right fit for your lot. But when it is, we know exactly what it takes to make the unit work here. Same crew, same contract, from the first soil probe to the final coat of paint. If you’re in the 89119 ZIP, that coordination is the thing that keeps your project from stalling out.
Key takeaways:
- Independent Abodu installer – not manufacturer-authorized, which means we fix what actually fails, not what the warranty says should fail.
- Full-scope general contractor: site work, foundation, trenching, utility tie-in, finish carpentry, roofing, and glazing all under one contract.
- Local to Paradise and Clark County – we know the unincorporated permit path and the airport-adjacent overlay requirements.
- Free site assessment and written line-item estimate. No vague allowances.

Common Abodu Construction Problems We Solve in Paradise
Prefab factory quality is genuinely good. But Paradise tests it in ways a California factory doesn’t plan for. Here’s what we see when we get called out:
- Sticking doors and gapped panel seams after the first real heat cycle. Abodu panels and pre-hung doors are set to factory tolerances. When a unit sits in 110°F-plus direct sun and swings 40 degrees every night, materials move. We re-square doors, adjust reveals, and re-seat panels so they stop binding.
- Factory sealant embrittlement at roof-to-wall and panel joints. The factory caulk line is fine for coastal California. Here, two or three summers of hard UV and it cracks and pulls away. Then a monsoon microburst drives water straight into those joints. We strip the old sealant and replace it with a UV-stable sealant rated for desert temperature swings, including a low-slope roof detail at the panel seams.
- Foundation movement over caliche and expansive soil. Caliche looks like rock. It also expands and contracts with moisture. A marginal slab or shallow pier layout will hairline-crack and rack the Abodu’s frame within a few years. We over-engineer the pad and use proper rebar and compaction because we’ve seen what happens when someone doesn’t.
- Utility tie-in mismatches. The factory stubs for electrical, water, and sewer don’t always line up with your existing panel capacity or trench depth. And in Paradise, the trench almost always hits caliche two to three feet down. We solve the site plan before the factory package is ordered – not after the unit is sitting in the driveway.
- Roof and flashing failures under monsoon conditions. Abodu’s low-slope roof works, but only if the flashing and membrane are done right at installation. We’ve repaired units where the original install left a seam exposed, and the first real storm put water down the interior wall. We re-flash to Clark County code and manufacturer spec.
Abodu Service in Paradise: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Unit
Here’s the thing most generic Abodu pages won’t tell you: in Paradise, your permit doesn’t go through a city. There is no city. Construction in the 89119 ZIP runs through Clark County’s building department, and depending on where your parcel sits, you may also answer to airport-adjacent and resort-corridor overlay requirements. We’ve done Abodu repair in Winchester on older single-family pockets off Maryland Parkway near UNLV, and we’ve done them near the airport corridor. The county reviews site plans, setbacks, utility connections, and fire access differently than any incorporated municipality would. If your contractor files the wrong application the first time, you lose weeks. We don’t.
Paradise’s slab-on-grade lots sit over caliche, that rock-hard calcium carbonate layer that laughs at a standard trencher. We set Abodu service in Whitney on a slab in the older single-family pocket off Maryland Parkway near UNLV, and the trench for the electrical and water tie-ins hit caliche about two feet down. We re-sequenced with a rock breaker and re-bedded the conduit before the unit landed. Once it was up, our tech found the factory roof-to-wall sealant already sun-cracked, so we stripped it, re-sealed the joints, and came back with a proper low-slope detail before the first monsoon cell rolled through. That’s not a hypothetical. That’s a Tuesday in Paradise.
Build it right the first time. The desert has a long memory.
Abodu Models & Products We Service in Paradise
We build and service all three current Abodu residential lines:
- Abodu Studio – open-plan single-room unit, typically 300 to 400 square feet, good for a home office, studio, or guest space.
- Abodu One – one-bedroom, roughly 500 square feet, the most common ADU we install in Paradise. Private bedroom, full bath, kitchenette.
- Abodu Two – two-bedroom, roughly 700 square feet, popular for rental income or multigenerational living on larger Paradise lots.
We use Abodu’s factory components – OEM seals, connectors, panel hardware – where they’re specified and where they actually hold up here. Where the factory part is the weak link in desert conditions, we go to quality aftermarket hardware, glazing, and roofing membrane that outperforms the original. On a unit that’s only a few years old, we repair and re-seal before anyone talks replacement. Full teardown only makes sense if the frame or envelope itself has failed. That’s rare.
We also handle the work the factory package doesn’t include: concrete pad engineering and pour, utility trenching through caliche, electrical and plumbing tie-ins, interior finish work, impact window upgrades, tile roofing repairs, and exterior cladding. If you’ve been looking for Abodu sales & service from a contractor who actually builds the site, we’re that crew.

FAQs – Abodu Construction in Paradise
Caliche is a hard, cement-like soil layer that sits anywhere from one to four feet below grade across much of Paradise. It makes standard trenching slow and expensive, and it expands and contracts with moisture, which can crack a poorly designed slab. For an Abodu pad, we dig test holes before we order the unit, design the foundation for the actual soil we find, and use proper compaction and rebar so the unit doesn’t rack or crack later. Your site plan has to solve for caliche before the factory package ships. Call (833) 734-5541 and we’ll tell you what your lot looks like underneath.
Yes, if the installation is done right. The factory shell and insulation are fine for desert temperatures. The weak points are the sealant lines, the flashing details, and the foundation. We reseal panel joints with UV-stable material, install proper low-slope roof details at the seams, and build a pad that won’t move under thermal cycling. Then a unit handles 110°F and a monsoon microburst without drama. Skip those steps and the first August storm will find every gap.
No. We’re an independent general contractor that builds, sites, and finishes Abodu units. We’re not a manufacturer dealer or authorized warranty provider. What that buys you is honesty about what actually fails on these units in this climate. We’re not protecting a sales quota. We’re fixing the same problems we’ve seen on every install we’ve touched, and we use factory parts where they’re specified and better materials where the factory part is the problem.
A complete Abodu project – site work, foundation, utility tie-ins, unit placement, and finish work – typically runs $90,000 to $220,000 in the 89119 ZIP. The spread comes down to site conditions (caliche depth, access, permit overlays), which model you choose, and how much interior finish work you want. A Studio on a simple lot comes in at the lower end. A Two on a difficult lot with high-end finishes lands at the top. We’ll give you a line-item quote before you commit to anything. Estimates are free – call (833) 734-5541.
Site work, foundation, trenching, and utility tie-ins typically take three to six weeks depending on caliche and permit review. The unit itself goes up in a matter of days once it’s delivered. The variable almost nobody plans for is Clark County’s review time, which can stretch longer than an incorporated city’s. We file early, submit complete plans, and manage the county process so your unit isn’t sitting in a warehouse while paperwork crawls. Timeframe depends on your lot – call (833) 734-5541 for a realistic schedule.
